At 17 years old, native San Franciscan Caelyn Dovey has created a collection of songs that explore intricate emotions. Using songwriting as a way to express herself, she is passionate about exposing her spirit through music. Her lyrics – visceral, illustrative and honest – are pieces of stories that examine matters of the heart through a unique lens. From common family controversy, to palpable dissolving human connectivity, to love and relationships; at her core, Caelyn is a storyteller and a song-crafter.
Inspired by her emotional connection to her favorite musicians, Caelyn started playing guitar at the age of 13, taking lessons at Bird School of Music. Soon after, she began singing and creating her own original material. While she mentions core influences such as Colbie Caillat, Taylor Swift and Johnny Rzeznik, she's always drawn inspiration from poetry and literature as well.
Caelyn's chosen charity, CURE Childhood Cancer (
www.curechildhoodcancer.org), works to conquer childhood cancer through research, education and support of patients and their families. 100% of profits from sales of these songs go to CURE.
"I want to support a cure in any way I can, and I passionately believe in using the power of music for positive change in society," Caelyn said. "What really stands out to me about CURE is their concentrated emphasis on taking initiative through funding research, as well as through the direct support of patients and their families."
